Can I change some of my images and information?

You can make changes at any time, up until you have made payment for your entry. No changes can be made by you after that point, so be sure that you are completely happy before this final step.   To change an image you already uploaded, you have to delete the entry and start again with that image.  Other images remain unaffected.

How should I name my jpeg file

Our system renames your file on upload, and the name of the file in your computer is ignored.  So, it simply doesn't matter how you name your digital image.  The title that you enter in the entry page is important, however,  Although it forms no part of the file name, it is used when judging, preparing the catalogue and displaying the results on the website.

What about pixels/dots per inch?

PPI as recorded in the jpeg file is irrelevant.   It is common to ask for 72 ppi for displayed images and 240 or 300 ppi for printed images, but these are only conventions, and have no real meaning.  When printing it is possible to tell the printer to use (say) 240 ppi, in which case it will produce a print that measures image-width in pixels divided by 240 inches wide by image-height in pixels divided by 240 high.  It is equally possible to tell the printer to produce a print 12 inches across, in which case the resolution will almost never be 240.

I created a new account, then nothing happened!

Our server sent out a confirmation email immediately.   Check you typed your email address correctly.   Some ISPs (including Xtra and gmail) hold back emails from new contacts the first time, as a method for stopping spam.   The idea is that a spammer will not retry, whereas a genuine contact will.   Our system will keep retrying for a couple of days before giving up.  Please allow your server to wait an hour.   If you have not received confirmation after this time please check your spam folder.

What are the specifications for digital images?

Your image must be a jpeg file with a maximum width of 3240 pixels, and a maximum height of 2160 pixels.   Images larger than that will be downsized to conform.

Images with a width less than 1200 pixels or a height of less than 750 pixels will not be allowed.  The rules are relaxed in the case of a "letterbox" or "column" image image, so if an image has a width of greater than 2200 pixels, the height is ignored.  If a portrait image has a height equal to 2160 pixels, the width is ignored.
